A Dedication--or perhaps a disclaimer
A true artison, whether they consider themself a "crafter" or an "uncrafter," pursues their art as a labor of love.
Have you ever watched a woman crochet or knit something to sell at a bazaar? Their fingers fly, but if they were to figure
out how much they earned for their time, it would probably be less than 50 cents an hour.
A person who bakes tasty delicacies might consider the cost of the flour, the eggs, the butter, etc., but they ignore
the hours they spent rolling out the dough, kneading the bread, or chopping the nuts to add the perfect finishing touch.
As I count the beads out, sorting color by color, size by size, the hours rush by. Do I hope to gain great material wealth
from the sale of my creations? Not in a million years. My joy, instead, comes from the people who enjoy wearing them, hopefully
sparking a conversation or two, a smile or three, or just a down-home good feeling that they look a little better and I've
had a small part in that sensation.
As you browse my creations, think not of just the finished product, but think of the love that went into each piece.
And always, always, wear them with a smile!
